Language
Most of the people you meet in the Netherlands will speak English: at the airport, at the hotel, with the show organizer, the show suppliers, and the show attendees. Most Dutch speak more or less several foreign languages- French, German, and English. English is well spoken but may be a good idea to have one of your booth staff who can speak these languages.
Transportation
Transportation in the Netherlands is easy, with many means of transport- metro, bus, tramways, and taxi. Parking is always available. You will find all kinds of accommodation close to the exhibition centers.
Exhibiting in the Netherlands
The Netherlandsare a very exhibit friendly country and the exhibitor is treated as a customer (the customer opinion often right). The rules and regulations are strict, but there are no protective reflexes; everybody can do his thing as long as he is following the rules.
In the Netherlands a square meter of exhibition space costs in between € 100 and € 380/m², depending on the kind of exhibition: public oriented – b to b or international exhibition. The average cost per m² for a rental exhibit is not a relevant figure. You can calculate from € 100 per m² for a simple shell scheme, to € 300- to €500 for a larger stand. A smaller stand would cost more per m² than bigger ones and the more complicated the construction, the more expensive they are.
Venue locations
The main venue locations in the Netherlands are Amsterdam and Utrecht with his m² exhibition space. But there are several other important exhibition centers. These venues are generally situated at the outskirts of the city and near important motorways.
Exhibit materials
The Netherlands use more systems then 20 years ago, but the mix of system and custom build is still considered the better solution. The Dutch tend to make customised elements, but build them also to be reused. Quality is always important for the Dutch and they expect good quality.
Monitors – truss lighting – carpeting - furniture
The monitors, truss lightning, carpeting and furniture are mostly available as a rental in the Netherlands. Suppliers here are responsive and English speaking with good equipment, good selection for carpet and furniture, and excellent service. This can also be arranged through a Dutch partner.
